Magento 2 Integration
waveConnect links your Magento 2 store to waveMail and automatically adds customers to your lists based on store activity — registrations, orders, newsletter signups, and more.
What You'll Need
- Magento 2 (Open Source or Adobe Commerce) running PHP 8.0 or later.
- SSH / command-line access to your Magento server.
- An active waveMail account at app.wavemail.com.au.
- Magento administrator access.
Step 1 — Install the Module
Download the module package from the connector's download button in your waveMail Integrations area, then install it one of two ways.
Option A — Manual (app/code):
- Unzip the package and upload the WaveConnect folder to
app/code/Techwave/WaveConnect in your Magento installation.
- From your Magento root, run:
bin/magento module:enable Techwave_WaveConnect
bin/magento setup:upgrade
bin/magento setup:di:compile
bin/magento cache:flush
Option B — Composer (if provided as a Composer package):
- Require the package:
composer require techwave/module-waveconnect
- Then run
bin/magento setup:upgrade, setup:di:compile, and cache:flush as above.
After this, a waveConnect menu appears in your Magento admin sidebar.
Step 2 — Connect Your waveMail Account
- In the Magento admin, go to waveConnect → Setup Account.
- Click Connect to waveMail. A secure waveMail authorisation window opens.
- Log in and approve. The window closes and the module is authorised automatically — no API keys to copy. (A manual API key option is available as a fallback.)
- The account then shows a Connected status.
Step 3 — Create an Integration
- Go to waveConnect → Integrations and click Add New.
- Choose a trigger:
- Customer registration — a new customer account is created.
- Customer saved / updated — a customer profile changes.
- Order placed and order status change (e.g. processing, complete).
- Newsletter subscription.
- Contact form submission.
- Select the waveMail list the contact should join.
- Map the fields — match Magento data (name, email, billing details, etc.) to your list fields.
- Add conditional logic (optional) so the integration only runs when your conditions are met.
- Click Save. The integration is now live.
Step 4 — Sync Existing Customers (Optional)
Go to waveConnect → Sync Customers, choose the list, and start the sync. It runs in the background, and you can retry any failed records.
Step 5 — Test & Monitor
- Trigger a configured event (for example, register a test customer or place a test order).
- Check the linked waveMail list to confirm the contact appears.
- Open waveConnect → Debug to review the API log and resend any failed requests.
Tips: connection details live under waveConnect → Settings; use Import / Export to back up your setup; and the waveMail connection is shared across all waveConnect plugins, so it behaves consistently everywhere.
